Lets a charity reclaim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate, at no extra cost to you, simply by you signing a Gift Aid declaration. If you're a higher or additional rate taxpayer, you can also personally claim back the difference between basic rate and your own tax rate via Self Assessment — a saving basic rate taxpayers don't get, since the charity already reclaims the basic rate portion.
