Crisis Payment (Hammersmith and Fulham, formerly Hardship Prevention Fund)

London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham

Details being confirmed

Some figures on this page (such as the amount, deadline, or rate) are provisional and due a fresh verification pass against the official source. Please confirm the current details using the official link below before relying on this information.

Description

Hammersmith and Fulham's local hardship scheme, funded through the Crisis and Resilience Fund — the council's replacement for the Household Support Fund, which ended nationally on 31 March 2026. Superseded from 1 April 2026: the council's Crisis Payment scheme now replaces both the Local Support Payment and the Hardship Prevention Payment that ran in 2025/26, funded through the Crisis and Resilience Fund like most other London boroughs' equivalent schemes. Provides a payment for residents who cannot manage an emergency or crisis on a low income; white goods, furniture, and household items are no longer routinely covered (only in exceptional, health/safety-risk cases with professional evidence).

Amount

Discretionary — amount depends on assessed need; not published as a fixed figure (previously up to £900 under the predecessor Hardship Prevention Fund)

Deadline

Rolling / no fixed deadline

Eligibility summary

  • Available in: England.
  • Open to individuals — not restricted to businesses.
  • Relevant income bands: earning under the Personal Allowance.
Notes
Re-verified 2026-08-19: the previously flagged branding mismatch is resolved — the old Hardship Prevention Fund URL (this entry's officialUrl) now 404s, and the scheme has been formally renamed 'Crisis Payment' as of 1 April 2026, replacing both the Hardship Prevention Payment and Local Support Payment under the national Crisis and Resilience Fund umbrella. The previously-recorded £900 cap is no longer stated on the new page — no fixed amount is currently published — and white goods/furniture support has been curtailed to exceptional cases only. Official URL and application route updated accordingly; slug kept unchanged to avoid breaking existing links. Attempted re-check 2026-09-28: every lbhf.gov.uk URL tried (this entry's officialUrl, the Household Support Fund page, the Hardship Prevention Payment page, the Local Support Payments page, and the cost-living-support hub) now returns 404 to automated fetches, and a fresh web search surfaces search-index snippets referring to a 'Crisis Prevention Fund' and 'Hardship Prevention Payment (formerly Crisis Prevention)' with a £900 cap and a 6-month gap between awards — potentially indicating the branding has shifted again since August, or simply stale/cached search-index text; could not be confirmed either way via direct fetch. Flagged needsReview — re-verify branding, amount, and whether it's one merged scheme or two before relying on this entry.
Requirement
Residents on a low income or with insufficient income/resources to manage an immediate crisis or emergency, living in Hammersmith and Fulham (or housed elsewhere by the council), with savings of no more than £1,000, who have not received a Crisis Payment in the last 12 months. Also covers residents moving from temporary to permanent accommodation with council-assisted resettlement support.
