HEAT the Home Counties

Happy Energy Solutions Ltd (in partnership with the five member councils)

Description

A five-authority home energy-efficiency partnership covering Bracknell Forest, Runnymede, Spelthorne, West Berkshire, and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, delivered by Happy Energy Solutions Ltd. Funded through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and the Affordable Warmth Solutions-administered Warm Homes Fund/Fuel Poor Network Extension Scheme — distinct from the DESNZ Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme tracked elsewhere in this directory for some of the same councils. Offers first-time mains gas/LPG central heating (typically free), air/ground source heat pump grants, boiler upgrade grants (up to 50% of cost), and insulation grants (loft, cavity wall, underfloor, solid wall).

Amount

Fully or partially funded heating and insulation improvements depending on measure; boiler upgrades up to 50% of cost

Deadline

Rolling / no fixed deadline

Eligibility summary

  • Available in: England.
  • Open to individuals — not restricted to businesses.
  • Relevant income bands: earning under the Personal Allowance, basic rate taxpayers.
Notes
Runnymede Borough Council and Spelthorne Borough Council, previously noted as confirmed consortium members outside this directory's council-trawl scope, are now tagged here as of the August 2026 batch 24 Surrey addendum. Kept as a separate entry from the DESNZ-funded Warm Homes: Local Grant schemes already tracked for Bracknell Forest and West Berkshire (both members of the Portsmouth-led 'Warmer Homes' WH:LG consortium) and from the separate DESNZ-funded Surrey Warm Homes: Local Grant consortium (also tracked in this directory) which Runnymede and Spelthorne are additionally members of, since HEAT the Home Counties draws on different (ECO/Warm Homes Fund) funding despite similar branding — both/all schemes may be worth checking for a given household.
Requirement
Household in a member borough with a low income (under £35,000), cold-related illness, high energy costs, or a poorly energy-rated home (EPC E or above for some measures); does not require benefit receipt.
