Innovate UK Analysis for Innovators (AFI)

Innovate UK (UKRI)

Description

Corrected August 2026: this is not purely in-kind support — current Innovate UK Business Connect guidance describes total project costs of up to £100,000 over a maximum 6-month project, funded via Minimal Financial Assistance or a match-funded grant (combining company and research-partner costs), following a two-stage Expression of Interest → brokerage → Stage 2 proposal process. Gives businesses access to technical expertise and analytical facilities at UK public research institutions to help solve a specific innovation or R&D challenge — useful if your project needs specialist testing, characterisation, or analytical capability that would otherwise be too expensive to access alone.

Amount

Total project costs up to £100,000 over up to 6 months (funded via Minimal Financial Assistance or match funding, not pure in-kind support)

Deadline

Rolling / no fixed deadline

Eligibility summary

  • Available across the whole UK (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland).
  • Applicant must be a registered business.
  • Most relevant to: Manufacturing, Technology & Digital, Research & Development.
Notes
Runs in periodic rounds via an Expression of Interest stage rather than continuously — no funding at Stage 1 itself; funding applies to the Stage 2 project agreed with a Knowledge/Analysis partner following brokerage.

Want help with this application?

R&D claims and business grants are exactly where a specialist can make the biggest difference — both in claim size and time saved. We're building relationships with vetted professionals who can help with applications like this — register your interest and we'll follow up when we have someone to recommend.

Some of the organisations we may connect you with pay us a referral fee if you use their service. This never affects which listings you see in the directory. No live partner is confirmed yet for this listing.

How to apply

Submit an Expression of Interest via the UKRI Innovation Funding Service during an open round; successful EoIs proceed to brokerage with a research partner and a Stage 2 proposal. Email a4i@iuk.ktn-uk.org to be kept informed of future rounds.
