Lone Pensioner Allowance (Northern Ireland)

Land & Property Services and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive

Description

Northern Ireland's narrower, age-restricted counterpart to Great Britain's Council Tax single-person discount: a 20% reduction on domestic rates for homeowners and tenants aged 70 or over who live alone. Unlike the GB discount, it isn't available to sole occupants of any age — only pensioners aged 70+ — reflecting Northern Ireland's structurally different rates system.
